Mikumi is Tanzania’s fourth-largest national park and the most accessible from Dar es Salaam, making it ideal for travelers with limited time. The park is famous for its open Mkata Floodplain, often compared to the Serengeti, offering excellent wildlife visibility and almost guaranteed animal sightings.

Day 1: Zanzibar – Dar es Salaam – Morogoro – Mikumi National Park

Early morning departure from Zanzibar on the 07:00 am ferry to Dar es Salaam. Upon arrival, transfer to the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) station for the 09:30 am train to Morogoro. Enjoy a comfortable and scenic train journey through Tanzania’s countryside.
On arrival in Morogoro, meet your professional driver-guide and proceed by road to Mikumi National Park.

Arrive at Camp Bastian Mikumi in time for check-in and hot lunch.
In the afternoon, depart for your first game drive in Mikumi National Park. Explore the famous Mkata Floodplain where large herds of giraffes, buffalo, elephants, and zebras roam freely. With some luck,
you may also spot lions, leopards, and African wild dogs.
Return to Camp Bastian Mikumi for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Full Day Game Drives in Mikumi National Park

After breakfast, depart for a full day of game drives in Mikumi National Park. The park hosts a rich variety of wildlife including elephants, giraffes, buffalo, zebras, wildebeest, hartebeest, impala, warthogs, eland, antelopes, and hippos. Bird lovers will enjoy spotting numerous species across the plains and near waterholes.
Your guide will take you to different areas of the park to maximize wildlife viewing opportunities. A picnic lunch will be served inside the park.
Return to Camp Bastian Mikumi in the late afternoon for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Morning Game Drive – Return to Dar es Salaam – Flight to Zanzibar

After early breakfast, enjoy a morning game drive when wildlife is most active. Following the game drive, begin your journey back to Dar es Salaam with a packed lunch box for the road.
Upon arrival in Dar es Salaam, transfer to the airport for your scheduled 21:00 flight back to Zanzibar.
On arrival in Zanzibar, transfer back to your hotel
